This month's banner was taken in the lobby of my favorite hotel in Santa Monica, CA, The Georgian. Smack dab across from that big pond they call the Pacific Ocean, The Georgian looks like it's been transplanted from Miami Beach, one of those Art Deco beauties that are so prevalent down there. In fact, it's even doubled as a Miami Beach hotel in Get Shorty, near the beginning (I believe it's the scene where Chili Palmer--John Travolta--goes and gets his coat back from Ray "Bones" Barboni (Dennis Farina).
Anyway, this is a real live tree and the whole lobby smells of it. It's a warm, lovely feeling when you walk through the door, off to the left near a fireplace. Here's a closer look:
If you're ever in Santa Monica and find yourself on Ocean Blvd., stop in and see this gem of a hotel. It's worth a look, and I highly recommend staying there...
