There isn't a lot of opportunity to go running through fallen leaves in San Diego, hence this photo from New York's Central Park two years ago. But whichever coast I'm on, fall is my favorite season.
We do get fall out here, pretty much minus the leaves turning. The nights get longer, the days get shorter, the temperatures cooler, and--if we're lucky--it rains. But there's nothing like the feeling of running through a huge pile of fallen leaves, feeling them crunch and crackle underfoot, with the requisite nip in the air. Add in the smell of roasting chestnuts and the need for a jacket, and this, to me, is sheer poetry.
This, my dear, is perhaps my all-time favorite photo that you have posted. Just gorgeous!!!
