New York state of mind...atop 30 Rock in Rockefeller Center. For some reason, I am fascinated by these objects, which grace tourist attractions all over this great land of ours. I have photographed them in my new hometown of San Diego, in San Francisco by the Golden Gate Bridge and now here in NYC, at the Top of the Rock observation deck. I almost never put a quarter in and use them. But I love their bulky yet classic design, their carryover to days gone by and their link to the past. If they could record one frame of each time they're used and we could play them back, it would be a window onto history. (Filters and color manipulation were used on this photo...it wasn't that weird looking of a day, even for New York City.) I wanted something special to celebrate my 200th Friday Foto. I hope you agree this is it.
