I write about this every year on December 1, but I still think it's worth noting. Thirteen years ago today I moved to San Diego. I had visited before, in fact each year since 1992. But it wasn't until 1998 that I quit my job of 18 years as a graphic designer at a TV station in Pittsburgh, PA, sold a ton of my stuff (some of which I still miss), packed up the rest and my one remaining cat and moved here to San Diego.
I've lived in three places in my lifetime: my hometown, Tamaqua, PA, for roughly 25 years; Pittsburgh for another 18 or so years; and now San Diego for 13. (Yes...I'm old these days.) I've been lucky to have felt a kinship to all three places, like I truly belonged to each. But I can tell you in no uncertain terms that there is no place like (my current) home, San Diego. It is definitely the most beautiful place I've ever encountered, when it comes to natural beauty and of course, you can't beat the weather. I have no plans to ever live anywhere else.
So...happy anniversary to me, even if it is thirteen. Let's just consider it a lucky thirteen, okay?
Happy belated anniversary. Still wish you were on the east coast. Glad you are happy where you are though. I haven't connected fully with NY yet.
