I am compelled to write something today about the month of June, since it's the beginning of the month, and I want to start it off positively, at least blog-wise.
June USED TO BE my favorite month. It was filled with such promise: My birthday appears within the first 10 days (you, however, can feel free to celebrate all month if you wish), along with the birthdays of some friends and relatives, both living and dead (the relatives, not the friends). As a kid, the end of school loomed (usually very close to my birthday, which was like the best present ever) and a long, hot summer spread out before me. A summer which, incidentally, usually got pretty boring around mid-August, but hey...it was 3 months of freedom.
June now still includes my birthday (am I dropping enough hints for you?) but it also contains a long countdown to that giant thing that looms in July—that work thing—which I love and dread in equal measure. So June has a bit more of an edge to it than, let's say, when I was 7. But then again, so does living.
When I think of June, I think of: June brides, Father's Day and Gary's Birthday. Let me the first to wish you a very Happy Birthday Gary!!!
