I have simple desires, ones that--at times--seem easily attainable. Nothing that would be considered too much to ask for, if you know what I mean.
So when the California Primary was held on June 8, I had high hopes that the constant barrage of negative political advertising was over, at least for a month or two.
That didn't happen. Today I saw one of the most negative political ads ever, with the Republicans (who are running former eBay CEO Meg Whitman for governor in November) lambasting Democrat candidate Jerry Brown. The commercial points out Brown's record of failure in California as a former governor, mayor of Oakland, and his failed US Senate and presidential runs. It's so depressing and filled with the word "failure," that if I was Jerry Brown, I'd be sucking on a gas pipe right after viewing it.
The Dems have their own ad campaign going on, focusing on the fact that Whitman, as a civilian, didn't vote in any election for 28 years. Part of that may have to do with the fact Jerry Brown was running in some of those elections, I don't know, but even as I type this, there's a "Meg2010" ad running on my teevee. The point being, June 8 was 2 weeks ago and we're still inundated with these f*cking ads and it's only going to get worse...
It's going to be a long, hot, annoying summer.
