Not that I think everyone is hanging on my every word here (you aren't, are you?), but I am now 8 days without soda. Okay, I had a beer or two on Sunday, but the person I was with twisted my arm (and I'm SO glad she did), so that was a short dive off the no-carbonated beverages wagon.
I finally got up the "courage" to pour away my last 2-liter bottle of Diet Pepsi Wild Cherry. I have my moments where I miss soda--the fizz-fizz sound, the first cold bite when you take that initial sip--but I'm not sure I crave it. It mainly happens when I eat lunch out. Today I just kind of stared blankly at the soda machine and finally settled on Tropicana Lemonade ("Caffeine free! Non-Carbonated!"). At home I've been drinking Ocean Spray low calorie fruit drinks, such as CranGrape and CranRaspberry. I don't think I need all the carbs from the watered-down colored liquid known as Gatorade, or "G" as those oh-so-hip commercials (oh-so-hip they're oh-so-f*cking-annoying) calls it these days.
They (you know who they are) say that 9 days without caffeine gets it pretty much out of your system. I've had a few headaches, but nothing major.
When I'm 90 days without soda, I'll know this thing has stuck.
congratulations on your streak of not drinking soda, diet or otherwise.
i found a solution that is healthier. i like fruit juice. however, it is high in calories and if you pour a serving as indicated on the back of a jar it isn't enough to satisfy thirst.
solution: pour 6-8 oz of juice into a tall glass. fill rest of the way with plain or lime flavored calistoga or arrowhead soda water. add ice.
i do this with the no sugar added cranberry juices or with natural apple cider.
it is far more interesting to drink than water, and some nutritional value is gained.

They (and by they I mean I) say beer doesn't count.
