I would blog at length tonight, but I just can't bring myself to do so...I'm too broken up over the loss of that great American leader, Illinois' ex-governor Rod Blagjeovich.
Blago--as those of us who knew and loved him called him, fondly with just a touch of reverence--gave an hour-long impassioned speech today at his impeachment hearing. Just like Jefferson Smith in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Blago went down fighting. It's fitting since just last week he compared himself to a Frank Capra movie character.
Me? Well, my upset state is directly related to the fact that I wish Blago would have instead copied the original scripted ending of another Capra film, Meet John Doe. In that one, Capra wanted to have the title character (played by Gary Cooper) jump off a building on Christmas Eve in protest of society's evils. While I don't want to wear any "Blago died for our sins" t-shirts, I think just about the whole country--Illinois particularly included--would applaud a last minute leap into oblivion by this bozo. May he fade away quickly, his 15 minutes of fame as wispy and hard to grasp as the money he wanted for President Obama's senate seat.
I saw that Blago moron on The View and they were not buying his crap either. Scumbag. M~
