Cox Internet problems, redux...
Many of you have left comments to my original post about having problems with my Cox Internet connection (click here for details). I had thought--for one brief, shining moment--that it was cleared up when all seemed well with the world last night (Saturday for those of you in a different time zone, like the USA, since California seems like an entirely different continent, most of the time). Yahoo, MySpace (I'm a BIG fan of the MySpace), and eBay all seemed to come when called last night...
...something that's sadly missing tonight. I've been on for an hour and have yet to make a proper connection (that would be one with both an introduction AND a chaperone present) to Yahoo. Readers are still leaving comments to my original post, outlining their own problems.
I was so pissed on Saturday afternoon that I sent a nasty email to customer service, mentioning my personal difficulties (no, not THOSE ones...my problems connecting to the Internet...get with the spirit of this post, damn you!) and how I felt they didn't really seem to be doing anything about this problem. As I wrote then (and it still applies as I write this NOW, at 10:15pm on Sunday night), the Cox Customer Support page still acknowledges the problem, and has finally been updated (as of 9:37pm Sunday night), but at the time of sending the email, they hadn't updated it in over two days. They've now added iTunes to the list of affected websites. As someone from Scottsdale, AZ commented here, we all deserve some kind of monetary compensation for this now 5-day outage. I use Yahoo as a primary email source for this blog, and receive and answer mail each and every day--not a lot, but still utilize it daily.
It's doubly smarting when you turn on the TV and see the local ads they're running for how screamingly fast their high-speed Internet service is. I'm not having any problems--currently--with any other Cox service I have, including phone and HD cable. I'm going away for a few days later in the week, and if the problem persists, I think it's time to start looking for a new Internet service provider, "Cox combo" notwithstanding.

After three years of frustration with trying to connect with Cox, I finally went with FIOS last week. It is an order of magnitude better than Cox cable. However, the real shocker to me is that I had used Cox as my email account provider. I FAILED TO CONNECT THE DOTS THAT WHEN I DISCONTINUED COX SERVICE, THEY WOULD CLOSE OUT MY ACCOUNT. I have numerous emails, etc. archived in this account that I have now lost all hope of trying to get them back, including several documents that are critical in a pending legal action. No warning from the disconnect office that one my cable disconnect order was processed, they would immediately shut down my email account as well. BEWARE!

Cox Internet support service is a crock of shit. They don't support Microsoft Outlook. Everyone in the legal business uses Outlook through there domain name. They say they only support express. That's Bull. They block Outgoing 25. Pissed, Pissed, Pissed. I hope I get to be on the team that's suing them some time.

We are currently experiencing a similar issue in Northern Virginia. Have not been able to connect to Google, CNN, Digg, or any website in the 64.x.x.x range for two days now.
But not only is this not noted on the Network Status page, the tech on the phone tried to pass it off as the CA/AZ issue you're having (which is somehow noted on the Cox status page for VA).
Frustrating.

I am still experiencing lack of connection to many websites. This is extremely frustrating and speaks to Cox's lack of skill in running this service. Even worse is their lack of communication and accountability to customers. Yes, the commercials are painful!
